KENNEWICK, WA – Great news! Thanks to your incredible commitment to water conservation, the Kennewick Irrigation District (KID) is pleased to announce that the mandatory watering schedule implemented on July 7th, 2024, will be lifted effective Sunday, August 4th, 2024. KID asks customers to continue to water their lawns according to the existing voluntary watering schedule based on their property address, which is located at kid.org.

“We are incredibly grateful for the cooperation and water-saving efforts of our community during this challenging drought period,” said Shane Leonard, District Manager of the Kennewick Irrigation District. “Your commitment to conservation has been instrumental in ensuring a reliable water supply for all.”
KID understands that adhering to a mandatory schedule wasn’t easy, and there truly is an appreciation of the community’s dedication to watering wisely. Their efforts, combined with the ongoing canal lining and widening projects, have significantly reduced water demand, allowing KID to shorten the mandatory period.

Technically Still in a Drought

While the mandatory schedule is being lifted, KID reminds customers that the region remains in a drought. Water conservation is still encouraged. Residents are urged to continue watering wisely and to utilize efficient irrigation methods, such as drip irrigation, whenever possible.

Important Information:

The voluntary watering schedule remains the same as the previous mandatory schedule and can be found at kid.org. Drip irrigation systems and hose watering are not affected by the watering schedule. Customers can find additional drought information and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section atkid.org. For questions, please contact KID Customer Service at 509.586.9111.
