Kennewick Irrigation District has been informed by the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) that our main pumping plant near Prosser has to be shut down due to mechanical issues. The delay will be 6-10 days depending on how quickly the repairs can be made. KID will make every effort to support Reclamation’s repair process.

We will continue to start every system that isn’t supplied by Chandler Pumps on schedule. These systems are Willowbrook, Red Mountain and Elliott Lake, and areas served from wells, the Gage Pumps and the CID Canal.

In other areas, water that is currently in the canals and ponds will be used to test systems. This will allow KID crews to identify and fix problems caused by the hard winter before water is turned on and will speed water start up once the repair is made.   Customers will see water turned on and then off during these testing periods.

Each year brings its own unique set of challenges, and we apologize for the inconvenience this delay will cause. Your patience will be appreciated throughout this time.
