The Kennewick Irrigation District (KID) found a breach in the Division IV Canal at approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning. The KID is working to contain the breach and make necessary repairs as soon as possible. At this time water is still flowing; it is affecting an area next to Game Farm Road, the closest cross street is Oak. Please be careful if you are around this area.
The KID must drain all water from the canal before the actual repairs can be made. At this time we do not know what caused the breach, an investigation is underway.
Most deliveries within Kennewick and to the east towards Finley will be shut down this afternoon for the season. Deliveries North of Gage Boulevard and the four PSA’s off the CID canal will remain on until our scheduled shut down begins Monday, October 15, 2012.
