The Kennewick Irrigation District is treating our canals this week to clear pond weed and algae that grow aggressively in hot weather.  As the weed dies, it breaks loose and travels downstream to our weed screens.  Our crews will continue to work 24-7 to maintain the canal flow.  KID weed screens will catch large clumps of the debris, but smaller algae, which breaks loose from the pond weed, will be passing through the coarse weed screens.  This will cause more plugged filters for the next three weeks.  Please check your filters more frequently.  Please go to the KID.org News Center for instructional videos on how to clean your screens.
