KID Program Helps Save Homes
2014 ended on a great note for some Kennewick Irrigation District customers: 10 KID customers avoided foreclosure and sixty-eight others received help paying their current year irrigation water assessment, through the Helping Hands program.
KID has been partnering with Community Action Connection since 2011 to offer assistance to low income customers during times of financial need through the Helping Hands program. Community Action Connection assists KID in the process of screening and qualifying applicants.
To date, over 200 customers have been helped by the program. KID is the only irrigation district in the state of Washington to make this type of program available.
The Helping Hands program is funded by a percentage of revenues collected from delinquency fees and donations made by other KID customers. KID would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who donated last year and made a difference in the lives of others.
The option to donate to the Helping Hands program is available on each customer’s payment coupons or can be made in person at the Administrative office located at 12 W. Kennewick Avenue in downtown Kennewick. All donations are tax deductible and every dollar donated will go to customers in need.
