The Kennewick Irrigation District is currently seeking an experienced Comptroller/Treasurer.

Salary Range |$109,992 $143,640 per year, DOQ

General Summary | The Comptroller/Treasurer position is the department head for the Finance Department, which currently includes the financial and accounting division and customer service.

This position consists of two distinct but complementary roles. The Comptroller is an employee of the District, hired by the District Manager, subject to the direction and control of the District Manager, and subject to termination of employment at the discretion of the District Manager. The Treasurer is an officer of the District, who makes certain statutorily required reports to the Board of Directors, appointed by the Board of Directors, and subject to the removal at the discretion of the Board of Directors. The Treasurer role is unpaid because the District is of the belief that the overwhelming majority of time and effort is expended in the Comptroller role, which enables the Treasurer to make his or her required reports to the Board.

The Comptroller is the Chief Financial Officer of the District and oversees the preparation of financial statements and all accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, banking and investment activities, cashiering, and works with the Board, staff, customers, vendors, contractors, state and federal agencies, banks, mortgage companies, and other financial entities as needed and as directed by the District Manager.

Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

Please visit kid.org for more information, including a complete job description with required education and experience, and to apply.

About Kennewick Irrigation District (KID)| KID’s rich history began over one hundred years ago when the district was organized under Washington State law. It took forty years to move from “organized” to “funded” and then to “built.” For the last 64 years, KID has provided water to agricultural and residential customers within parts of Kennewick, Richland, West Richland and Benton County. For the past 56 years, the land being served by KID has continued changing from farmland to residential subdivisions and commercial property at an accelerating rate.

From the head end of the main canal it takes nearly seventy miles of canals, roughly 400 miles of pipes and over 120 pumping plants to distribute the water throughout the district. KID serves its ratepayers with a staff of seventy fulltime employees with a 2021 budget of over $17,000,000.
